3 Ways to Keep a Commercial HVAC System Working Right

Louvers may be a part of keeping your HVAC system working optimally, but there are other maintenance tips as well.

Maintaining a commercial HVAC system often means guaranteeing that employees and visitors within a commercial facility are kept warm or cool depending on the season. It’s a matter of making everyone comfortable and, just like the HVAC system at home, there is some maintenance that goes into it. Remember that commercial HVAC systems are built with longevity in mind and should last for years to come. With that said, it’s also important that commercial HVAC systems are properly maintained so as to keep an ideal temperature year-round which is why we at Hercules Custom Louvers have a couple of tips.

Each Month

Everyone ought to have some input as to what the temperature should be set to, so monthly check-ins to make sure staff are all content is always a good idea. Depending on what the weather may be or what season it is, a monthly shift may require you to readjust thermostats to keep everyone feeling comfortable. Every month, you’re also going to want to swap any HVAC filters out that have run out of usefulness, especially if they’re dirty, which can cause serious issues for people with allergies. Another important monthly HVAC maintenance task is to make sure there is nothing blocking your system. This means clearing out any leaves or other debris that may halt productivity for the system, a problem that installing custom louvers can help mitigate.

Each Season

We’re just about getting into fall which means you may end up using your heating sooner than you think. Open up any furnaces that may be a part of the property and vacuum them all out to get rid of any dust. Check for loose connections and fix those as well. Cleaning off condenser coils with a hose is also a great seasonal HVAC practice.

Each Year

While a hose can help get a condenser coil fairly clean, it’s not enough to sustain you throughout the entire year. You want to take the time to do a deeper clean at least yearly. To do so, just take a warm bucket of water with a bit of dish soap and spray it onto the coils. After that, you simply have to wipe the coil down with a rag to get it nice and clean again. Yearly checkups from an HVAC tech can also do some good.
